Rossouw van der Merwe

Senior GNSS Engineer at FocalPoint

Rossouw van der Merwe began their work experience in 2009 as a Software Developer at Knowledge Focus. From 2010 to 2012, they worked as a Software Developer at Sysdel CC. In 2009, they also started working as a Mathematics and Science Tutor at Master Maths, a role they held until 2011. From 2011 to 2012, they served as a Laboratory Teaching Assistant at the University of Pretoria. In 2013, they joined the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) as an Engineering Intern. Rossouw later became a Masters Student, focusing on Signal Analysis, until 2016. During their time at CSIR, they also briefly worked as a Signal Analyst in 2016. In 2016, they moved to Fraunhofer IIS, where they worked as a Researcher until 2022. Rossouw also held the position of Senior Engineer at Fraunhofer IIS from 2022. Currently, they work as a Senior GNSS Engineer at FocalPoint, starting in 2022.

Rossouw van der Merwe has a strong educational background in the field of engineering. Rossouw completed their Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in Electronic Engineering at the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria from 2009 to 2012. Following this, they pursued their Honours in Engineering (B.Hons) degree in Electronic Engineering at the same institution in 2013.

In 2014, Rossouw went on to pursue a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Electronic Engineering at the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria, completing it in 2016. During this time, they obtained an edX Honor Code Certificate for Space Mission Design and Operations.

Continuing their academic journey, Rossouw is currently studying for a Doctor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg. Rossouw began this program in 2020 and is still in the process of completing it.

In addition to their formal education, Rossouw has also pursued additional certifications. Rossouw obtained a certificate in Digital Signal Processing from Coursera Course Certificates in May 2019.
