Rafael Alvarez

Chief Technology Officer at Fluid Attacks

Rafael Alvarez has a long and varied professional experience. Rafael began their career in 2000 as a System Administrator at ADA. Rafael then worked as a Software Engineer at GeoNet from 2000 to 2002, and at ne Digital, Inc. from 2002 to 2003. From 2003 to 2006, they worked at Alcuadrado S.A. as a Programming Instructor. During this same time period, they held multiple roles at Fluid Attacks, including Chief Technology Officer, Head of Engineering, Project Manager, Product Manager, Security Consultant, Software Engineer, and Penetration Tester. In 2006, they began working as an Adjunct Professor at Universidad EAFIT, and they also held the same role at Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana from 2004 to 2006.

Rafael Alvarez has a Computer Engineer degree from Universidad EAFIT, obtained in 2005. Rafael also attended Universität des Saarlandes from 2006 to present, pursuing a Master of Science in Computer Science, which they have yet to complete. Additionally, from 2014 to 2015, they attended INALDE Business School for a Board of Directors programme and an Internationalization programme. Rafael has also obtained various certifications, including Economic Cybersecurity Risk Measurement (AIE) from Hubbard Decision Research in 2017, Team Software Process (TSP) from Procesix Inc. in 2014, Specialized Programme on Reducing Cyber Crime (New Delhi) from Center For Development Of Advanced Computing in 2010, Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) from Procesix Inc. in 2009, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)² in 2005, and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) from ISACA in 2005.
