Alvina Malcolm currently serves as the Director of Interpreter Services and Staff Interpreter at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind, a role held since October 2022. Additionally, Alvina has been an interpreter for Sorenson Communications since January 2006 and operates as a self-employed sign language interpreter since May 2004. Previous experience includes positions as a Staff Interpreter at the Louisiana School For The Deaf from June 2018 to October 2022, and as a Sign Language Interpreter at Louisiana State University from October 2007 to October 2022. Alvina has also contributed to Deaf Focus Services as a Lead Interpreter/Mentor from October 2013 to December 2015 and served as President of the Louisiana Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf during the same period. Academic credentials include a Bachelor of Arts in ASL-English Interpreting from the University of Northern Colorado, attained between 2011 and 2013.
