Luis Velez, MA, LAT, ATC, CSCS, currently serves as the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Performance at Florida Institute of Technology since September 2020, overseeing the Sports Medicine and Sport Performance department while also acting as the Athletic Trainer for various sports. Prior to this role, Velez held multiple positions at Lenoir-Rhyne University from August 2005 to September 2020, including Athletic Trainer, Strength and Conditioning Coach, and Director of Strength and Conditioning, where significant contributions included establishing the strength and conditioning program and mentoring athletic training students. Earlier experiences include roles at SouthSide Power & Fitness, WatchFit, and as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Florida Institute of Technology, with foundational training received at Lenoir-Rhyne University and Furman University, culminating in a Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training and a Master of Arts in Health and Exercise Science.
