Phil Sanders, PhD is a Genomics Lead Scientist at Flomics, a position they have held since 2023. Prior to this, they were a Senior Post-doctoral Researcher & In Vitro Analysis Specialist at Creatio UB from 2012 to 2023, where they implemented and oversaw a pluripotent stem cell-based neuronal differentiation protocol in an ISO 9001 qualified environment and designed and coordinated a high value pluripotent stem cell-based project. From 2006 to 2012, they were a Post-doctoral Researcher at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG), where they developed a qRT-PCR and flow cytometry-based reporter system and engineered a panel of molecular constructs to study the effect of stop codon-proximal 3’-UTR structures on gene expression. From 2000 to 2006, they were a Research Assistant at Sense Proteomic Limited, where they validated and optimised the company’s core protein microarray technology platform and developed a range of functional protein microarray-based assays for the high-throughput in vitro identification of protein-protein interactions. From 1998 to 2000, they were an Industrial Trainee at Pfizer, where they rapidly learnt and applied a range of molecular and cellular biology techniques to investigate the role of Connective Tissue Growth Factor (CTGF) in Transforming Growth Factor Beta-mediated stimulation of dermal fibroblast procollagen synthesis and received a Pfizer Impact Award for the development of bacterial and mammalian CTGF expression systems.
Phil Sanders, PhD received their PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Developmental Biology, and Genetics from the University of Cambridge in 2006. Phil also holds a BSc (Hons) in Molecular & Cellular Biology from the University of Bath, which they obtained in 2000.
