Deanna Howarth Tomanelli currently serves as a Science Olympiad Coach and Upper School Science Teacher at Flint Hill School, teaching high school students in various science disciplines. Additionally, Tomanelli coordinates the PSAT test at the school. Previous experience includes roles as a Chemistry Teacher and Chemistry Team Lead at Fairfax County Public Schools and a Chemistry Teacher at BASIS DC Public Charter School, where duties encompassed teaching advanced chemistry courses. Tomanelli also participated as a Lab2Class Fellow at American University, aimed at improving science education in DC schools. Early career roles included teaching biology at various educational institutions and conducting postdoctoral research at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Environment from Duke University and a Master's Degree in Secondary Education from American University, complemented by a dual Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Music from Muhlenberg College.
