At the Flight Safety Foundation since April 2012, Jay has held a retired position after serving in various roles within the aviation industry. Prior experience includes journalism positions at Aviation Industry Group from 1976 to 2012, with significant contributions as the Editor/Editorial Director at Air Transport World from 1980 to 2006, and as a reporter covering the technical beat for Aviation Daily from 1976 to 1980. Jay's early career includes serving as a flight instructor at Freeway Airport, teaching various aircraft types from 1974 to 1976, and gaining military experience as a helicopter pilot in the US Army from 1966 to 1970, including service in Vietnam. Educational credentials include a BS & BA in Journalism and English from the University of Maryland and an AS in Flight Technology from the Florida Institute of Technology.
