Debra wasn’t born into a fishing family but became part of one in 2009. Because she comes from a fishing family, she has faced the same challenges and inequities confronted by others in the New Bedford fishing community. This helps her in her role as a Navigator because she understands and can take action to help others in ways she would want to be helped if she were in their shoes. The outreach they do on the waterfront is her favorite part of the job and every day she is making new Fishing Partnership memories.
