Shannon Yu is an accomplished ambassador for FirstGens, actively supporting first-generation university students and driving social mobility in the biological sciences community. Since joining FirstGens in June 2020, Shannon has demonstrated dedication through initiatives such as publishing an article on survival tips for first-generation students. Previous roles include Production Officer at Bath ASU and Student Mentor at IntoUniversity, where tailored guidance was provided to a year 11 pupil. Shannon’s experience also includes managing operations at Boba Time, where effective communication and leadership were key in training new team members and maintaining high food hygiene standards. Currently pursuing an MSci in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Southampton, Shannon brings a strong educational foundation complemented by a commitment to community engagement and mentorship.
