Emilia Suomalainen is a seasoned professional in sustainable urbanization and electric mobility, currently serving as a Senior Research Scientist at the Finnish Environment Institute (Syke) since May 2021. Prior experience includes leading research teams and managing projects at VEDECOM, focusing on electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and serving as a Lead Project Manager at ENV-ISA, where Emilia specialized in sustainable aviation and collaborated with various international clients such as EASA and Eurocontrol. A PhD in Circular Economy from the University of Lausanne complements a strong educational background in Systems Analysis and Operations Research from Aalto University and Teknillinen korkeakoulu. Proficient in tools such as SQL, Excel, Tableau, Python, and AWS, Emilia’s work has spanned across academia, consultancy, and research positions, contributing to impactful environmental projects and policy-making.
