Anthea Paelo, PhD, serves as the Gender Focal Person at Financial Sector Deepening Uganda (FSD Uganda) since October 2019, focusing on gender inclusivity in projects and representing the organization on the FSD Network's Gender Steerco. Additionally, Anthea manages a portfolio of programmes under the Business Environment Pillar and conducts policy analysis for financial inclusion. With extensive experience in research, Anthea has been a Research Fellow at the Centre for Competition, Regulation and Economic Development (CCRED) since January 2022 and previously worked as a researcher and junior researcher there from January 2014 to September 2019. Earlier roles included economist at Acacia Economics and various tutoring positions at the University of Johannesburg. Anthea holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Johannesburg, along with multiple degrees in Development Economics and Law.
