Mathew DeDonato

Director, Robotic Systems at Figure

Mathew DeDonato has a diverse work experience in robotics and engineering roles. Mathew currently holds the position of Director of Robotic Systems and Test Engineering at Figure, starting in August 2022. Prior to their current role, Mathew worked as a Senior Manager of Vehicle Hardware Platforms at Woven Planet Holdings from May 2022 to August 2022.

Mathew spent a significant portion of their career at Toyota Research Institute, where they held various roles. From February 2020 to May 2022, they served as a Senior Manager of Vehicle Hardware Platforms. Before that, they were a Manager of the Vehicle Hardware Team from April 2016 to February 2020.

Mathew has also worked for Hstar Technologies as a Senior Robotics Software Engineer from September 2015 to April 2016, and as a Senior Software Engineer at QinetiQ North America from June 2015 to September 2015.

Furthermore, Mathew has experience as a Technical Project Manager and Senior Robotics Engineer at DARPA Grand Challenge Team WPI-CMU from August 2013 to June 2015. Mathew worked as an Embedded Software Engineer at Teledyne Webb Research from May 2010 to August 2012 and as a Robotics Engineer at DeepQuest, LLC from June 2009 to May 2010.

In their earlier career, Mathew worked at WPI as a Senior Assistant from 2008 to 2009. Mathew also gained experience as a Senior Intern at Nexus Design, LLC from 2002 to 2007, where they were responsible for product development and maintenance of various systems.

Mathew DeDonato began their education journey at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2005, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Robotics Engineering. This program lasted for four years and concluded in 2009. Following their undergraduate studies, Mathew continued their academic pursuit at the same institution, enrolling in the Master of Science (MS) degree program in Robotic Engineering. This advanced degree lasted for one year, with Mathew completing their studies in 2013.
