John Bonnema is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in finance, control, and governance across various sectors. Currently serving as a member of the Supervisory Board and chairman of the audit committee at Fier since April 2021, John is also the Manager of Finance & Control at Empatec NV, contributing to one of Friesland's largest social enterprises. Additional roles include being a member of the Supervisory Board at Omrin since January 2017 and previously acting as interim concern controller and head of finance at Veiligheidsregio Fryslân. John's earlier positions include serving as CFO and managing director for Leeuwarden-Fryslân 2018 during its tenure as the European Capital of Culture and holding the position of Senior Manager at PwC Nederland, specializing in the public sector. John holds a Master's degree in Business Administration and Strategy and Organization from Open Universiteit, a Master's degree in Accountancy from the University of Groningen, and a degree in Accountancy from NHL Hogeschool.
