Matthew Kirshner is an experienced professional in the field of synthetic biology and industrial biotechnology, currently serving on the Investment Team at Ferment since 2022. Kirshner's role encompasses all facets of the company-build process, including sourcing, ideation, team recruitment, business and R&D planning, and fundraising. Previously, Kirshner worked in Growth & Business Development at Ginkgo Bioworks, where the focus was on identifying new applications for synthetic biology through NewCo incubation and partnerships. Additional experience includes freelance writing on synthetic biology business models and strategies for various publications, and consulting roles at Putnam Associates and Duke University. Kirshner holds a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and Global Health from Duke University.
