Rita L. has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Rita began their career as a Software Developer at Computer Science University in Cuba, where they specialized in developing Content Management System Modules using Drupal, Wordpress, and Joomla. Rita also gained expertise in PHP code development and architecture design, working with frameworks such as Code Igniter and Symfony.
After freelancing for a few years, Rita transitioned to a role as a Software Engineer at OneKreate, where they were responsible for reviewing, architecting, and developing new modules and feature-sets for the company's proprietary web application known as RealTime. Rita also served as a go-to team member for issues related to RealTime's project management tool and contributed to the development of dynamic project dashboards using Backbone.js.
Following this, they joined Kaplan University as a Senior Software and Site Reliability Engineer, focusing on engineering and ensuring the site's reliability. Rita then moved on to Splash (SplashThat.com) as a Senior Software Engineer and TLD, where they worked on various products and areas, with a specific focus on application performance and observability. Rita led the Access Control Management and played a key role in adopting GDPR and data security standards. Rita also contributed to designing microservice guidelines and collaborated on the architecture of the new infrastructure platform using Kubernetes, ArgoCD, and Terraform.
At Qualio, Rita worked as an Engineering Manager, leading a team and overseeing engineering operations. Their role involved managing the development process, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring successful project delivery.
Currently, they hold the position of Senior Engineering Manager at Fastly, where they lead an engineering team and contributes to the overall technical strategy and execution of the company.

Rita L. obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Computer and Information Science & Engineering from La Habana, Cuba. Rita attended the school for five years, from 2003 to 2008. In 2010, they pursued further education at the Centre de Tecnologies Ituart - CETEI in Catalunya for a specific program focused on Social Networks. This program lasted for a year, from 2010 to 2010.
In addition to their formal education, Rita L. has obtained additional certifications. In January 2019, they achieved the Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certification from the Scrum Alliance. Furthermore, in May 2022, they obtained the Google Project Management Certificate from Google. These certifications enhance their qualifications and expertise in project management and agile methodologies.
