Andrew Bates is a State Advocacy Coordinator at Fahe, where responsibilities include coordinating policy research and advocacy to enhance access to housing and services in Appalachia. Formerly, Bates served as an Advocacy Associate and Policy Analyst at The Council of State Governments, conducting state and federal policy research and facilitating agreements for professional license reciprocity. Additional experience includes roles as a Research Associate at the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy & Natural Resources, a Government Affairs Intern at the Center for Biological Diversity, and a Bridge Program Instructor for the Unite Lebanon Youth Project. Bates holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy Studies, French & Francophone Studies, and a minor in Psychology from Duke University, along with a UI/UX Design Certificate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
