Mercedes de Rink has extensive work experience in the medical and healthcare industries, with a focus on oncology. Mercedes is currently the Director of Medical Affairs at Exscientia, a position they began in July 2022. Prior to this, Mercedes worked as a Global Medical Advisor Oncology at Debiopharm from January 2021 to June 2022, and as the Global Medical Affairs Lead for Head and Neck Cancer at Nanobiotix from July 2019 to December 2020. Mercedes also held the role of Medical Science Liaison Manager Oncology at Nanobiotix from July 2018 to July 2019.

Before their roles in oncology, Mercedes gained experience in various other healthcare-related fields. Mercedes served as the Marketing Manager for Nuclear Medicine at GE Healthcare from December 2017 to July 2018. Prior to that, they worked as a Global Product Manager Oncology at Brainlab from January 2016 to December 2017.

Mercedes also has experience outside of the medical field. Mercedes worked as a Customer Relationship Manager at Ziba Design, where they managed client relationships and project workflows, from December 2014 to November 2015. Mercedes also has research experience, having worked as a Research Associate at the Institute for Stroke and Dementia Research at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) München from November 2013 to November 2014, and as a Visiting Research Fellow at the Cognitive and Molecular Research Institute of Brain Diseases at Kurume University, Japan, from January 2013 to November 2013.

Mercedes began their career with research positions at Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg, where they worked as a Research Assistant in various departments from 2009 to 2012. Mercedes also worked as an Undergraduate Assistant at the Chair of Quality Management and Manufacturing Metrology (QFM) at Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg from 2009 to 2011.

Before entering the medical field, Mercedes gained experience in quality management as a Working Student at the Department of Quality Management at Spirit Link Medical GmbH from November 2008 to January 2010.

Mercedes de Rink completed their education as follows:

- From 2013 to 2014, they attended Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München's Graduate School of Systemic Neurosciences.

- Mercedes pursued their M.Sc. in Molecular Medicine from 2010 to 2012 at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, specializing in Neuroscience.

- Prior to that, from 2008 to 2010, they obtained a B.Sc. in Molecular Medicine from the same institution.

- In 2007 and 2008, they studied Chemistry and Biochemistry at Universität Innsbruck.

- Mercedes earned a B.Sc. in Biomedical Informatics from the Private Universität für Gesundheitswissenschaften, Medizinische Informatik und Technik between 2004 and 2007.

- And finally, they completed their Austrian Matura (equivalent to high school diploma) at Instituto Austriaco Guatemalteco (Austrian School in Guatemala) from 1991 to 2004.

In addition to their formal education, Mercedes de Rink has obtained certifications in Product Management from Product Focus and in Pharmaceutical Consulting as per the regulations of the Regierung Von Oberbayern in 2018.
