David Welsch is a highly experienced consulting technical writer with a strong background in technical documentation and software development. Currently at Expert Support since October 2019, David previously held positions at Cisco, including Senior Technical Writer, where significant contributions included writing documentation for software-defined networking (SDN) products and automating the conversion of extensive documentation to DITA format. In earlier roles, David demonstrated leadership as a Lead Technical Writer for Cisco's OpenStack documentation and achieved cost savings through automation as a Software Documentation Consultant for Envision. David’s career began in software development roles, including positions with Sun Microsystems and SandCherry, Inc. Academically, David holds a Master of Engineering in Engineering/Industrial Management and a Master’s in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Colorado Boulder, along with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Science from Iowa State University.
