Richard Shim is currently an associate at EwingCole. Richard previously worked as an intern at iArc Architects and as a summer employee at HAEAHN Architecture.
Richard's first experience in the architecture field was as an intern at iArc Architects, where they worked on the DAUM Headquarters project in Jeju Island, South Korea. Richard was responsible for creating physical models for client meetings, participating in the design process of the auditorium, meeting rooms, lobby, and recreational areas, and creating 3D models and renderings for clients and internal meetings.
Richard's next experience was as a summer employee at HAEAHN Architecture. Richard worked on two projects: the Eunma Apartment Complex Competition and the Geojedo Apartment Complex. For the Eunma Apartment Complex Competition, Richard was responsible for designing illustrations and architectural 3D models, creating diagrams and supplementary design images, and analyzing the site conditions and compiling extensive data. The team placed second in the competition. For the Geojedo Apartment Complex, Richard worked with the head designer to design the penthouse portion of the complex. Richard created 3D models and renderings to illustrate the design and presented the work to the principals.
Richard Shim studied pre-architecture at the Danish Institute of Study Abroad before completing their undergraduate degree in fine and studio arts at Trinity College-Hartford. Richard then pursued a Master of Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania. After graduation, they completed a Fifth Year Fellowship in sculpture at Trinity College-Hartford. Richard is also certified by the New York State Board of Architects as a Registered Architect.
They are on a team with Bryan Crawford - Associate, Carl Speroff - Associate, and Xiao Chen - Associate. Richard Shim reports to Shani Ferguson, Associate & Marketing Manager.
