Dana Mitchell has extensive work experience in technology and infrastructure roles. Starting in 2007, they worked for Evox Images as the Director of Technology and Infrastructure. In this role, they developed production workflow pipelines and automated video editing workflows, and managed the building of new technology infrastructure. Prior to that, they worked as a Database Development Consultant for Bank of America Securities in 2007, where they designed and developed a conference scheduling system. From 2003 to 2007, they worked for Dynamic Images as a Filemaker Database Application Developer and Administrator, handling project management, web development, user policies, and database administration. In 1998, they were employed as an Information Systems Manager and Database Administrator for Left Bank Management, where they were responsible for designing and administering network and systems infrastructure and managing technical staff.

Dana Mitchell pursued their education in biology, starting with their enrollment at Carleton College in 1974. However, no information regarding their degree program during that time is available. From 1975 to 1980, they attended the University of Minnesota, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology.
