Dr. Nikos J. Mourtos is a professor and the Chair of the Aerospace Engineering Department at San Jose State University (SJSU). He received his BSME degree from the University of Patras in Greece (1980) and his M.S. (1982), Engineer (1983), and Ph.D. (1987) in Aeronautical & Astronautical Engineering from Stanford University. He has developed and taught more than twenty courses in aerospace, mechanical, and general engineering subjects such as statics, dynamics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, aerodynamics, gas dynamics, propulsion, and aircraft design. He has been teaching undergraduate and graduate level aircraft design courses at SJSU since 1987 and is publishing with his students on aircraft design topics, most recently on electric and hybrid aircraft.
