George Papadopoulos, PhD, is a highly qualified professional with extensive experience in information technology and human rights. Currently serving as a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer at the European Union Agency for Asylum since July 2021, and holding a concurrent role as a Senior Information Technology System Engineer at the European Committee of the Regions, George also contributes as a Human Rights Officer with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights at the European External Action Service. Previously, George was the CIO of the Greek National Tourism Organization, where responsibilities included coordinating IT staff and maintaining information systems. With a diverse educational background spanning degrees in Informatics, International Relations, Cognitive Science, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering from esteemed institutions, George possesses a solid foundation in both technology and social sciences.
