Thomas Balzer has extensive experience in health informatics and regulatory standards, currently serving as a Member of the IDMP Task Force and Co-Chair of the EU Network Data Board at the European Medicines Agency since 2014. As a German Delegate, Balzer contributes to establishing data standards critical for data sharing and analysis within the regulatory network. In parallel, since 2009, Balzer has been a Delegate in ISO TC215, focusing on semantic content and pharmacy. Additionally, Balzer leads the Terminology Working Group of the DIN Deutsches Institut für Normung e. V., which is responsible for the standardization of healthcare terminology. Balzer’s career includes a role as Project Manager at BfArM since October 2000. Academic qualifications include a degree in Pharmacy from Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and a Diplom in Chemistry from the University of Cologne.
