Silvia Funke is an experienced professional in the field of epidemiology, currently serving as an Expert on Vaccine Preventable Diseases at the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) since October 2019. Prior experience includes roles as an Epidemiologist with the World Health Organization from 2017 to 2019 and as an Epidemiology Activity Manager with Médecins Sans Frontières in early 2017 and again in 2016. Silvia also undertook an EPIET Fellowship at ECDC from 2014 to 2016. Earlier in the career, Silvia worked as an Epidemiologist and Research Fellow at the DKFZ German Cancer Research Center from 2005 to 2012. Academic qualifications include a Master of Science in Applied Epidemiology from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and a PhD in Epidemiology from Heidelberg University, along with a PGCert in Pharmacy from the University of Otago.
