Isabel Schnabel is an Executive Board Member at the European Central Bank since January 2020. Prior to this role, Isabel was a Professor at The University of Bonn from December 2015 to December 2019. Isabel is currently on leave from this position. With a strong academic background, Isabel has held various professorial and research positions at institutions such as the German Council of Economic Experts, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, and Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods. Isabel has obtained a Doctor's Degree in Economics from the University of Mannheim, a Master's degree in Economics from both the University of Mannheim and University of Paris I: Panthéon-Sorbonne, and a PhD in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
