Mark Papamarcos

Director of Systems Engineering at Esperanto Technologies

Mark Papamarcos has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles throughout their career. In 1995, they started working at Synopsys as the Director of Hardware Engineering until 1997. Mark then joined SGI as the Engineering Department Manager, where they were responsible for updates on the Origin200 and Origin2000 computing server platforms. In the year 2000, they became the Director of Systems Engineering at Desana Systems, leading the development of a high-performance switching platform. Mark later co-founded PathScale, Inc. in 2002 and served as the Director of Systems Engineering, focusing on high-performance HyperTransport-Infiniband adapters. Mark also contributed to the development of the HTX specification. From 2004 to 2005, they worked at Orion Multisystems as the Director of Hardware Engineering. Mark founded Nucleon Systems, Inc. in 2005 and served as the Founder and President of the deskside compute cluster startup. Mark then became the Director of Electrical Engineering at Oqo in 2006. Also in 2006, Mark joined Juniper Networks as the Sustaining/Escalation Engineering Manager, managing hardware engineering issues and sustaining engineering for switching, data center fabric, and wireless LAN platforms. In 2018, they worked at SunLink as the Senior Director of Electrical Engineering, responsible for the development and production transfer of electronics for a single-axis tracking utility-scale solar power product. Currently, Mark is the Director of Systems Engineering at Esperanto Technologies, Inc., starting in 2022.

Mark Papamarcos has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Mark also holds a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the same institution. Furthermore, Mark has an MBA in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley.
