Karen Dwyer currently serves as the Director of Nephrology at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, a position held since October 2023. Prior to this role, Karen was the Clinical Director at Kidney Health Australia from March 2021 to October 2023 and held an academic position as a Professor at Deakin University between August 2015 and October 2023. Karen's extensive experience in nephrology includes serving as Co-Director of the Immunology Research Centre, Senior Lecturer, and Staff Specialist in the Department of Nephrology at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne from 2006 to 2015. Earlier career roles include a postdoctoral researcher at Harvard University, a nephrology registrar, and a medical registrar at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne, as well as a resident medical officer at Barwon Health. Karen's medical education was completed at the University of Melbourne, where a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) was earned.
