CJ Barton

Production Flight Test Engineer at Epic Aircraft

CJ Barton's work experience begins in 2010 as a Soccer Referee, where they demonstrated athleticism and consistency in interpreting FIFA rules. From 2017 to 2018, they served as the SAE Baja project leader at The University of Tulsa, overseeing resource allocation, purchasing, and design simulations for an off-road vehicle. They also conducted an Independent Study during this time. In 2017, CJ Barton joined Southwest United Industries as a Quality Control Intern, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications for aerospace parts. From 2018 to 2020, they worked as a Research Design Engineer at the Unmanned Systems Research Institute, conducting multiple-disciplinary studies involving dolphins and UAV design choices. Starting in 2018, they also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant at Oklahoma State University. Their tasks included grading papers, assisting students, and conducting research projects. In 2021, CJ Barton joined Epic Aircraft as an R&D Test Engineer, responsible for designing, fabricating, and facilitating R&D testing for structural and aerodynamic data. They later transitioned into the role of R&D Systems Engineer, leading a team in researching alternative fuel propulsion systems and using computational tools for design predictions. Currently, CJ Barton holds the position of Production Flight Test Engineer at Epic Aircraft.

CJ Barton's education history begins in 2010 when they attended Jenks High School and completed the Tulsa Technology Center pre-engineering program, earning their High School Diploma. Following high school, CJ attended The University of Tulsa from 2014 to 2018, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. They then went on to pursue a Master of Science degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering with a UAS option at Oklahoma State University from 2018 to 2020.

In terms of additional certifications, CJ obtained the FE Exam certification from NCEES in January 2022. Prior to that, in January 2021, they completed a certification course in Introduction to Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing from LinkedIn.
