EVP of Engineering & Technology at Envelop Risk

John Kelly's work experience spans over several industries and roles. John began their career as an Electrical Engineer at B&W Y-12 LLC in 2005. John then transitioned to Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where they worked as a Software Engineer focused on robotics, biometrics, and software development.

In 2008, John joined Carnegie Mellon University as a PhD candidate. After completing their studies in 2013, they joined Lockheed Martin as the Technical Lead for Corporate Data Analytics Initiatives. In this role, they contributed to the development of data analytics capabilities and acted as a consultant for machine learning across the corporation.

Following their time at Lockheed Martin, John worked at QxBranch as the Director of Analytics, leading the development of data analytics technologies. John then pursued their passion for ultrarunning and worked with various companies to develop products for long-distance adventures in mountain terrains and adverse weather conditions.

John's most recent role was at Envelop Risk, where they served as the EVP of Engineering & Technology. John created the original risk model for pricing cyber reinsurance, which proved to be a highly successful strategy. Currently, they are leading the development of technology for new products and exploring growth opportunities in cyber risk and other lines of insurance.

John Kelly attended North Carolina State University from 2003 to 2007, where they received a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. John later pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Electrical Engineering at North Carolina State University, which they completed in 2008. From 2008 to 2013, John Kelly attended Carnegie Mellon University, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
