Ben Portis is an experienced professional in governmental affairs, currently serving as the Director of Federal Governmental Affairs at Entergy since January 2017. Prior to this role, Ben held the position of Senior Washington Representative at the Tennessee Valley Authority from October 2009 to January 2017. Ben's career in public service includes serving as a Speechwriter and Legislative Assistant in the United States Senate from February 2007 to October 2009, as well as working as an Account Executive for the Memphis Redbirds, LLC, from August 2005 to February 2007, and as Research Director for Friends of Blanche Lincoln in 2004. Earlier experience includes various roles in the United States Senate from January 2000 to April 2004 as a Research and Policy Analyst, Legislative Correspondent, and in Constituent Services. Ben earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Government Politics and Economics from the University of Maryland between 1995 and 2000.
