Martin Lycka has extensive work experience in regulatory and legal affairs within the gambling industry. Martin most recently served as the SVP for American Regulatory Affairs and Responsible Gambling at Entain, where they were responsible for developing regulatory strategies and partnerships in the Americas. Prior to that, they held the position of Director of Regulatory Affairs at GVC Holdings/LadbrokesCoral, where they led global regulatory matters and licensing. Martin also worked as the Head of Regulatory Market Entries/Senior International Legal Counsel at Paddy Power Betfair, handling legal and compliance issues and leading license applications in various international territories. Martin has a strong background in law, having worked as an associate at Salans and as an in-house lawyer. Martin's work experience also includes internships at the Senate of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. Martin holds a Visiting Scholar position at K.U.Leuven, specializing in European Economic Law.
Martin Lycka completed their education as follows:
- From 2012 to 2013, they attended the College of Law, where they completed a full-time course in LPC (Distinction) while working full-time. Their field of study was LL.B.
- From 2011 to 2012, they also attended the College of Law, where they obtained a GDL degree with a commendation in Law.
- In 2008 and 2009, Martin attended the College of Europe, where they obtained an LL.M. degree in European Legal Studies.
- From 2002 to 2008, they attended Charles University and earned a first-class honours Master of Laws degree and a Doctor of Laws degree. Their field of study was Law, with a focus on European Law.
- In 2005 and 2006, they attended KU Leuven and studied European Law and International Law.
