Ion de Pinedo has a strong background in sales and business development, with a focus on the telecommunications industry. Ion'swork experience spans several companies and roles over the years.
Starting in 1995, Ion worked as a Technical Leader at Thales Information Systems, where they were responsible for Subway SCADA Projects, specifically the analysis and design of electronic and radiocommunications subsystems for projects such as Metro Bilbao and Metro of Santiago de Chile.
In 1999, Ion joined CSG Systems as a Professional Services Director in Brazil. Ion led a team of project managers and consultants and worked on major projects for Brazilian telco operators, including Telemar, Oi, Intelig, and CTBC. Ion also managed key negotiations with CIOs and partnered with system integrators (Accenture, E&Y, PWC) to ensure long-term professional services deals.
Next, Ion moved to In-Fusio in 2004, where they served as a Business Development Manager for Iberia and Latin America. Ion focused on opening up the Latin American market and successfully sold mobile gaming solutions to operators such as VIVO, TIM, Telefonica, Claro, and Telcel. Ion also worked with major accounts like Telefonica Moviles, America Movil group, and Vodafone.
In 2006, Ion joined CSG as a Sales Account Manager in Iberia. Ion upsold and cross-sold interconnect, mediation, and billing products to existing customers, including Vodafone Spain, Vodafone Portugal, Euskaltel, Sonaecom, RCable, and Cabovisao. Ion also coordinated activities with the CALA region for the Telefonica Group at the C-level.
Ion then joined Vidiator Technology in 2007 as a Business Development Director for Southern Europe and Latin America. Ion successfully opened new markets with broadcasters and telco operators in Spain, France, Italy, Brazil, and Argentina. Ion closed deals with major companies such as PrisaTV, RTVE, VivendiME, Universal, M6, TF1, RTP, TVI, ZonTV, Orange Spain, TIM Brazil, Telefonica Argentina, Orange Caribe, and Buongiorno Italy. Ion also prospected main broadcasters in Brazil for the World Cup in South Africa.
From 2009 to 2013, Ion worked at PacketVideo (by NTT Docomo) as a Sales Director for Southern Europe and LATAM. Ion generated new business within Tier1 carriers and service providers in Southern Europe and Latin America. Ion sold end-to-end music and video streaming managed solutions to several Telefonica affiliates in Europe and Latin America. Ion was also promoted to Account Director for Vodafone Group, overseeing a complex sales project involving multiple countries and OEMs (Huawei, ZTE, Arcadyan, Sagemcom).
Ion joined Creativity Software in 2013 as a VP of Sales. Ion was responsible for expanding business into service carriers and law enforcement agencies. Ion defined a sales strategy and go-to-market approach that secured three major MNOs in Brazil, Colombia, and Ecuador, as well as a major country in Asia. Ion also signed partnerships with Mavenir, HPE, Telefonica Tech, and Everis, enabling additional sales in the Latin American region.
In 2020, Ion joined Enea AdaptiveMobile Security as the VP of Sales for Europe and LATAM. Ion enabled successful growth in Europe and LATAM for signaling and messaging security solutions. Ion brought in three new customers and 15 new operators, and developed a new strategy for the region involving marketing and product enhancements.
Lastly, Ion joined Enea AB in 2023 as the Senior Regional Sales Director for LATAM, focusing on core network software solutions. Ion was appointed to expand business in the LATAM region by increasing the company's footprint in major telecom groups such as Millicom, Telefonica Hispam, VIVO, Claro Brasil, TIM Brasil, Liberty Latam, and Personal. Ion developed a successful strategy involving key account management, dedicated pre-sales activities, targeted marketing campaigns, and partnerships. Ion also facilitated the transfer of accounts in Europe to the Enea sales organization.
Ion de Pinedo began their education journey in 1989 at the University of Deusto, where they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Science. Ion dedicated himself to their studies until 1994. Following this, in 1992, Ion enrolled at Lund University to attain their MSc degree in Systems Engineering, which they completed in 1993. After a brief break from formal education, in 2003, Ion joined the Escuela Europea de Negocios and pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration, which they successfully completed in 2004.
