David Sweeney began their work experience in 1996 as a Production Supervisor / Aviation Electrician in the US Navy. David then worked as a Production Manager at METROCOM CORPORATION from 2000 to 2003. From 2003 to 2008, David was a Sr. Network Architect at Washoe County School District. David also worked as a Cisco Instructor at Truckee Meadows Community College from 2004 to 2007. David then served as a Sr. Network Engineer at Advanced Logic Industries from 2008 to 2011. Following that, they worked as a Sr. Network Engineer at Babcock & Wilcox from 2011 to 2012. David joined Builders FirstSource/Probuild in 2012 as a Sr. Manager, Network and Telecommunications and remained in that role until 2015. Currently, David is the Director of IT Security and Network at EMPLOYERS, a position they have held since 2015.

David then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology from Strayer University from 2004 to 2009. Later, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance from WGU Nevada from 2018 to 2019. Additionally, they completed an MBA degree in Information Technology Management from WGU Nevada from 2017 to 2020.
