Satellite Data Analyst - Coal Mine Methane at Ember

Sarah Shannon is currently a Satellite Data Analyst focusing on Coal Mine Methane at Ember since September 2023. Previously, Sarah served as a Senior Research Associate at the University of Bristol from January 2018 to July 2024, specializing in glacier melting and water security in Central Asia, where a snow and glacier melt model was developed for the DECIPHeR hydrological framework. In March and April 2023, Sarah participated in a data science bootcamp with Science to Data Science (S2DS) as a Data Scientist, collaborating on a computer vision tool for weld property measurements. Earlier experiences include a Research Associate role at the University of Exeter from 2014 to 2017, contributing to the HELIX project and the Glacier Model Intercomparison Project. Sarah began their academic career as a Research Assistant at the University of Bristol from 2009 to 2014, focusing on the ice2sea project. Sarah holds a PhD in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology from the University of Bristol and a Master’s degree in the same field from the University of Galway.
