Matthew Phillips is an experienced leader in machine learning research, currently serving as Director of Machine Learning Research at Elucid since December 2020, where Matthew oversees the Deep Learning Research team focused on interpreting CT images of vasculature. Additionally, since September 2016, Matthew has worked as an independent consultant, developing systems in Computer Vision, NLP, and Signal Processing, utilizing modern deep learning technologies and AWS cloud services. Previous positions include Principal Machine Learning Researcher at LifeOmic, Staff R&D Engineer at Kitware Inc., and senior roles at Align Technology and 219 Design, where Matthew contributed to software development in the biomedical and healthcare sectors. Matthew's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Philosophy with a focus on Cognitive Science from Rutgers University and a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Neuroscience from Columbia University.
