Kareem ElSohly is a graduate of the University of Mississippi where he received a B.A. in Business Management with an emphasis in Organizational Behavior along with a minor in Marketing in December, 2004 and an MBA from Delta State University in 2011. Upon joining ELI in April 2005, Kareem worked in several different areas of the company, looking to learn about all the aspects of the company. Kareem first started off in the forensic laboratory, where he was trained in extraction procedures in urine and GC/MS analysis of drugs of abuse. After working in the forensic laboratory, he worked in the research laboratory. While working in the research lab he worked on extraction and method development of benzodiazepines, as well as the synthesis and purification of drugs & pro-drugs. His work on benzodiazepines led to three publications in the Journal of Analytical Toxicology. He is a co-author in a publication regarding the extraction from urine and method development of benzodiazepines on LC/MS (TOF). After his work in research, he then moved to the production side of ELI. While in production, Kareem was trained in the batch making process.
His responsibilities at his current position include planning, directing, coordinating, and overseeing operations activities in the laboratory, ensuring development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of the laboratory.
