Valeria Lopes-Caitar, Ph.D.

Research Scientist at Elemental Enzymes

Valeria Lopes-Caitar, Ph.D. has worked as a Research Scientist at Elemental Enzymes since 2023. Prior to that, they worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate and Visiting Scientist Fellow at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville from 2019 to 2023. From 2008 to 2019, they worked at Embrapa, where they held several roles like Postdoctoral Research Associate, Research Intern at Plant Biotech Lab and Graduate Research Fellow. Furthermore, they also served as a PHD Fellow at the University of Tennessee from 2015 to 2016 and as a Research Intern at Nematology Lab at Instituto Agronomico do Paraná - IAPAR from 2007 to 2008. Throughout their career, they have gained experience in multiple research areas, including plant-pathogen interactions, nematode effectors, histological tissue preparation, laser capture microdissection, RNA extraction, in situ hybridization, WGS, GBS, and SNP chip data analysis.

Valeria Lopes-Caitar, Ph.D. started their education by obtaining a Bachelor's degree (Cum Laude) in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from UniFil - Centro Universitário Filadélfia. Valeria then pursued a Master’s degree in Biotechnology from UEL - Universidade Estadual de Londrina, which they completed in 2012. In 2013, Valeria completed a Graduate Degree in Bioinformatics from Federal University of Technology-Parana before enrolling as a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) student in Genetics and Molecular Biology at UEL - Universidade Estadual de Londrina. Valeria has also obtained several certifications such as Python Essential Training, Python for Non-Programmers, Python Quick Start from LinkedIn, and Verified International Academic Qualifications from World Education Services (WES).
