Maarten Sierhuis has a diverse range of work experience in various roles and companies. Maarten founded Ejenta, a San Francisco-based company focused on developing intelligent personal assistants using artificial intelligence and sensor technology. At Ejenta, they exclusively licensed NASA technology and utilized 20 years of research to develop the agent platform. Additionally, Maarten served as the Vice President/Alliance Global Director/Head of the Alliance Innovation Lab-Silicon Valley at Nissan North America. Maarten also created and managed the Knowledge, Language & Interaction area at PARC, specializing in research and development of intelligent agents for healthcare. Prior to that, they were a Senior Research Scientist in the Intelligent Systems Division at NASA Ames Research Center, co-inventing and leading the development of Brahms. Maarten has also contributed as a visiting researcher and fellow at TU Delft and lectured at UC Berkeley. Earlier in their career, they worked at NYNEX Science & Technology, IBM, and Sema Group, contributing to various projects and receiving recognition for their work in expert systems technology and knowledge acquisition.

Maarten Sierhuis obtained a Ph.D. degree in Artificial Intelligence, Cognitive Science, and Agent Programming Languages from the University of Amsterdam between 1997 and 2001. Prior to this, they pursued a degree in Informatics (HIO) from De Haagse Hogeschool / The Hague University of Applied Sciences, where they completed their studies from 1981 to 1986, earning an Ing. degree.
