Mikel Unzurrunzaga Schmitz, also known as Makala or DJ Makala, has extensive experience in the music and radio industry since June 1989, working as a DJ, radio host, musician, musical producer, and event promoter throughout the Basque Country. Currently active at EITB, Mikel collaborates on multiple radio programs, including "Nada Original" and "Boom Shaka Laka." As the artistic director for ADARRETATIK Musika Jaialdia since 2018, Mikel oversees a summer music festival in Zarautz, while also curating and promoting various musical events through the Global Funk collective. Past roles include serving as the artistic curator for the Nauticool stage at the Jazzaldia International Jazz Festival and co-directing the ELEKTRONIKALDIA festival. Mikel's educational background includes professional training in radio and sound control from the Escuela de Radio y Televisión de Bilbao from 1991 to 1994.
