John Herrera has extensive experience in leadership and community development, notably serving as a Fellow at Eisenhower Fellowships since 2005, where the focus is on inspiring global leaders to enact positive change. As a co-founder of Latino Community Credit Union from June 2000 to February 2022, Herrera contributed to creating an ethical financial institution that supports diverse communities. Additionally, Herrera held positions on the Board of Trustees at North Carolina Central University and as a member of the Board of Directors for NALCAB, advocating for Latino community development. As Senior VP for Latino/Hispanic Affairs at Self-Help from August 1999 to December 2021, Herrera was involved in providing essential services to underserved populations. Education includes a Master’s Degree from North Carolina State University and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Delaware.
