Corby Martin, Ph.D., FTOS is a clinical researcher and a leader in the development and delivery of novel lifestyle change interventions, including technology-based approaches. He is a Professor and Director of the Ingestive Behavior, Weight Management, & Health Promotion Laboratory at Pennington Biomedical Research Center, and he Directs the Human Phenotyping Core of the Center’s Nutrition Obesity Research Center. Dr. Martin is a Fellow of The Obesity Society (FTOS) and he has published over 260 scientific papers and book chapters. Dr. Martin frequently presents at scientific conferences and institutes of higher education, and he is a facilitator for the Commission on Dietetic Registration’s Certificate of Training in Obesity for Pediatrics and Adults. Dr. Martin has received various awards during his career, including the Lilly Scientific Achievement Award in 2013.
The overarching goal of Dr. Martin’s clinical research is to develop tools, programs, and interventions to help people live more fulfilling lives through healthy eating and activity. His research program includes the development of novel methods to assess health behaviors, including the measurement of food intake with smartphone apps. Dr. Martin has integrated these and other assessment platforms into programs to facilitate healthy eating and activity, as well as weight management.
