Mario Farias-Elinos has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Mario started their career as a System Development professional at Universidad La Salle in 1991. Mario then moved on to Softtek, where they worked as a Network Computer Support specialist. At the same university, they served as an Assistant Researcher before transitioning to the role of Researcher. During their time at Universidad La Salle, they also worked as a Professor, teaching various bachelor's and master's degree courses in subjects like Operating Systems, Network Security, and Programming Languages. Additionally, they conducted research in areas such as Computer Security and Free Software Development.

In 2001, Mario Farias-Elinos became the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at CUDI (Coorporacion Universitaria para el Desarrollo de Internet). Mario then went on to become the CEO/Owner of Ver Ingenieria SA de CV in 2002 and MuchTal SC in 2009.

From 2011 to the present, they have been an International Instructor at EC-Council, where they have taught various courses on cybersecurity, including Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) and Certified Network Defender (CND).

In 2013, they served as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at ALAPTI. Mario Farias-Elinos has also been involved with several academic and professional organizations, such as being the Chairman of RedCUDI Security Working Group and President of RedCUDI Network Development Committee.

Mario Farias-Elinos has a strong educational background in the fields of electrical engineering, computer science, and computer security. Mario obtained their Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Computer Security and Image Processing from the Centro de Investigacion y de Estudios Avanzados del IPN from 1999 to 2003. Prior to that, they completed their M.Sc. in Computer Science, specializing in Computer Security and Computer Distributed systems, also at the Centro de Investigacion y de Estudios Avanzados del IPN from 1995 to 1997. Mario Farias-Elinos began their academic journey by earning their B.Sc. in Cybernetics and Computer Systems Engineering, with a focus on Computer Security, from the Universidad La Salle, A.C. from 1989 to 1995.

Throughout their career, Mario Farias-Elinos has also obtained various certifications related to cybersecurity. Some notable certifications include E|CDE (EC-Council Certified DevSecOps Engineer) from EC-Council in January 2023, CMSC (Certified Metaverse Security Consultant) from the Identity Management Institute in August 2022, and ICS/SCADA Cybersecurity from EC-Council in July 2022. Mario has also achieved certifications such as CCSE (Certified Cloud Security Engineer), LCSPC (Lead Cybersecurity Professional Certificate), CSFPC (Cyber Security Foundation Professional Certificate), C|TIA (Certified Threat Intelligence Analyst), CASE-Net (Certified Application Security Engineer - .NET), CASE-Java (Certified Application Security Engineer - Java), CSA (Certified SOC Analyst), C|CISO (Certified Chief Information Security Officer), CASP (CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner), ITIL Foundation v.3, ISO/IEC 27001 Senior Lead Implementer, GPEN (GIAC Penetration Tester), Linux+, Security+, CAST-611 (Advance Penetration Testing), C|ND (Certified Network Defender), and GNFA (GIAC Network Forensic Analyst). These certifications span from 2016 to 2023 and demonstrate Mario Farias-Elinos's dedication to staying up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity practices and technologies.
