Jeff Barber

Jeff Barber has served on the board of directors for e-Emphasys since April 2016. Jeff is a Managing Director with Fennebresque & Co., a Charlotte, NC-based investment banking firm where he focuses on technology and healthcare. Jeff joined Fennebresque & Co. in 2009 after retiring from PricewaterhouseCoopers (“PwC”) where he worked for 31 years and served as the Managing Partner of the PwC Raleigh office for 14 years. He was the partner in charge of PwC’s technology practice in the Carolinas and he has extensive experience working with technology, software, life science, healthcare and multi-national companies. Jeff also has expertise working with publicly-traded companies and assisted 12 clients in their successful IPO transactions.

Jeff serves on the board of directors and as chair of the audit committees of PRA Health Sciences, a contract research organization (CRO), and Ply Gem Holdings, Inc., a leader in the building products industry. He also serves on the Board of Trustees and as chair of the audit committee of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina. Jeff previously served on the board of directors of SciQuest, Inc., a procurement software company, which was sold to Accel-KKR and LipoScience, Inc., a diagnostic testing company, which was sold to LabCorp.

Jeff was appointed by the Governor of North Carolina to serve on the North Carolina State Board of CPA Examiners from 2007 to 2010. The Board licenses and regulates CPAs and the practice of public accounting in North Carolina.

Jeff is actively involved in the Research Triangle area business community. He is a past board member of the Council for Entrepreneurial Development (“CED”), where he twice served as chair of the board, and the North Carolina Technology Association (“NCTA”), where he served as Treasurer for eight years. In January 2006, Jeff received the NCTA “Volunteer of the Year” award. In June 2000, he received the CED “Outstanding Service” award.

Jeff is also actively involved in various civic organizations. He currently serves on the board of directors of NC IDEA and recently concluded his tenure on boards of the North Carolina Museum of Art Foundation and the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics Foundation. In the past, Jeff served as board president of Artspace, Inc., chairman of the board of the Community Learning Centers, Inc., and as a member of the board of directors of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and the United Arts Council. Jeff is a graduate of the Leadership Raleigh and Leadership Lexington (Kentucky) training programs.

Jeff holds a B.S. degree in Accounting from the University of Kentucky. He is a certified public accountant licensed in North Carolina and Kentucky.
