Jeffrey Cunningham, PhD

Jeffrey Cunningham, PhD has over 20 years of work experience in the United States Air Force and in the private sector. In 2000, they began their career as a Lead Forecaster/Zone Supervisor and Schweizer 2-33 Glider Instructor Pilot in the United States Air Force. In 2004, they started their MS Graduate Student studies at the Naval Postgraduate School while continuing to work with the United States Air Force. In 2006, they were promoted to Deployed Weather Flight Commander, Chief of Numerical Weather Prediction Strategy/Interagency Integration, Operations Officer, and Lead Scientist of the NEXRAD Applications Branch. In 2009, they completed their MS Graduate Student studies and began their PhD Graduate Student studies at North Carolina State University. Jeffrey also worked as an Adjunct Faculty at the University of Maryland University College - Europe. In 2012, they were promoted to Deputy Chief, Weather Requirements Division (HQ ACC/A5W). In 2021, they became an Adjunct Associate Professor at North Carolina State University, a Founder/Owner at 81 Degrees, LLC, and an Intern (DoD Skillbridge) at TruWeather Solutions. Jeffrey currently serves as the Director of Strategic Innovation at Dynepic, Inc., responsible for architecting Dynepic’s scaled platform technologies to meet design and stakeholder objectives, providing senior advice to the Dynepic CEO for technology strategy development, rapidly prototyping new technologies and capabilities, facilitating government interactions, and advising on cybersecurity efforts.

Jeffrey Cunningham, PhD obtained their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Meteorology from the United States Air Force Academy between 1998 and 2002. Jeffrey then attended The United States Naval Postgraduate School and obtained their Master of Science (MS) in Meteorology between 2004 and 2006. Jeffrey then attended North Carolina State University, where they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Atmospheric Sciences between 2009 and 2012. Following this, they attended Air Command and Staff College in 2013. Jeffrey also holds certifications from the Scrum Alliance, (ISC)², U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, Google, and Google Cloud (NJ).
