Ronaldo Varela began their career in 1996 as a Director at Booz & Company. Ronaldo then moved to Promon Engenharia in 2001, where they served as Executive Director. In 2003, they joined Telefônica Brasil as Director of Marketing and New Business LATAM. Ronaldo then moved to Rede in 2007 as VP of Marketing, Products and Strategic Planning. In 2009, they became VP of Commercial, Marketing and Products at Getnet - Brasil. In 2010, they joined Alelo Brasil in the same role. In 2013, they were appointed CEO of Stelo. Finally, in 2017, they became the Chief Payments Officer Latin America at Dynamics Inc.

Ronaldo Varela completed a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the Universidade Federal da Bahia in 1982, followed by a Bachelor of Administration degree from the Universidade Católica do Salvador in 1989. Ronaldo then went on to obtain a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1996, with a focus in Marketing, Finance and Strategy.
