Gareth Humphreys has work experience in civil engineering roles at Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water and First Hydro Company. At Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, they started as a Civil Engineer in October 2011 and later became the Civil and Structural Engineering Manager from April 2018 to October 2022. Gareth currently holds the position of Principal Civil Engineer. Prior to this, Gareth worked as an Assistant Civil Engineer at First Hydro Company from June 2008 to September 2010.

Gareth Humphreys has a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Civil Engineering from Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd, completed from 2010 to 2011. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Civil Engineering from the same institution, completed from 2007 to 2010. In addition, Gareth Humphreys has obtained several certifications including the Project Management Qualification (PMQ) from the Association for Project Management in August 2019, the Nebosh Construction Certificate from NEBOSH in July 2019, and the Chartered Civil Engineer certification from the Institution of Civil Engineers in June 2015.
