Jan-Willem Porringa is an experienced professional in costume design and tailoring, currently serving as the Head of the Men's Workshop at Nationale Opera & Ballet since October 2018, where responsibilities include primary cutting for performances. Porringa has been the owner of Lowland Tailors since May 2003, specializing in creating clothing for ballet, opera, and theater, along with expertise in pattern techniques for these art forms. Previous roles include positions as a senior pattern cutter at Aitor Throup Studio, interim first cutter at Nationale Opera & Ballet, and a tailor and freelancer for various esteemed institutions such as Nederlandse Reisopera, Het Nationale Ballet, and Det Kongelige Teater. Educational background includes a degree from MTS voor Mode en Kleding, completed between 1988 and 1992.
