Christiane Helmer serves as an Advisor and Co-Director at Ballet & Books, overseeing the Berkeley chapter of a national nonprofit aimed at bridging the literacy gap for children aged 6-9 through a blend of dance and reading. In addition to this role, Christiane has experience as a Medical Affairs Associate at DURECT Corporation and a Youth Mentor for the National Alopecia Areata Foundation. Previous roles include being an Athlete for Cal Triathlon and a representative for the Ballet Company at Berkeley, as well as a Clinical Intern and Medical Assistant at ZAND Dermatology Inc. and a Research Assistant at the Berkeley Early Learning Lab, where studies focused on childrenās psychological and physical development. Christiane has also contributed as a Swab Coach Volunteer at UC Berkeley University Health Services and as a Student Scholar at the UC Berkeley School of Public Health, leading discussions on public health and sustainability topics. Christiane is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health at UC Berkeley, building on a Bachelor of Arts in Molecular and Cell Biology and Public Health.
