Jon Jipping has a diverse and extensive work experience. In 1990, they started their career at DTE Energy, where they held various roles in engineering and management until 2003. After that, they joined ITC Holdings Corp. and served as Director of Engineering, Vice President of Engineering, Senior Vice President of Engineering, Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, and finally, Executive Vice President. In 2019, Jipping became a Board Member at Wataynikaneyap Power PM, a project that aims to provide electricity to remote First Nations communities in northern Ontario. Jon also served as a Board Member at the North American Transmission Forum, Inc. from 2017 to 2019. In 2021, they became a Member of the Board of Trustees at Michigan Technological University. In 2023, they held advisory roles at KPMG US, EQT Group, GIC, and Duquesne Light Company, with their most recent position being that of Corporate Director at Duquesne Light Company.
Jon Jipping earned a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering with a Power Concentration from Michigan Technological University, which they attended from 1989 to 1991. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Calvin University, where they studied from 1984 to 1988. Jon Jipping also holds a certification as a Professional Engineer (PE) from the State of Michigan.
