Yi Chen has a diverse range of work experience in the field of design. In their most recent position at Duolingo, they served as a Product Designer. Prior to this, they worked at Cint and Coda as a Product Designer, where they collaborated with software development teams and conducted user research to improve design solutions. They also worked at OnePlus as a UI/UX Designer, where they planned marketing strategies and designed the interface for Clipt. Additionally, Yi Chen has experience as a UX Consultant at the Center for Digital Experiences at Pratt Institute, where they applied user experience methodologies to client projects. They also served as a Graduate Design Assistant at Pratt Institute, where they helped design visual identities and promotional materials. In earlier roles, they worked as a User Experience Designer at YEE SI, a Visual Designer at Sujitech, and a Language Tutor and Notetaker at Rochester Institute of Technology.

Yi Chen's education history includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree in Graphic Design from the Rochester Institute of Technology, which was completed between 2013 and 2017. In 2016, Yi Chen participated in a Study Abroad Summer School program at the Kanazawa Institute of Technology, studying Japanese Studies. Later, between 2018 and the present (2021), Yi Chen pursued a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Design and Visual Communications, General at Pratt Institute.
